<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform gamma correction processing and contrast enhancement processing with less hardware resources. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 1 is provided with: a liquid crystal display panel 2; a gamma correction circuit 12 which performs gamma correction processing on input image data D<SB>IN</SB>, in response to correction point data CP0 to CP5 specifying a gamma curve; and a data-line driver circuit 14, which drives the data lines of the liquid crystal display panel 2 in response to the output gradation data D<SB>OUT</SB>output from the gamma correction circuit 12. The gamma correction circuit 12 is configured to perform approximate gamma correction processing, according to a correction expression in which the input image data D<SB>IN</SB>is defined as a variable of the correction expression and the coefficients of the same are determined on the correction point data CP0 to CP5, and to modify the correction point data CP1 and CP4, in response to the input image data associated with the target pixel of the gamma correction processing and the pixel adjacent to the target pixel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
