PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a racking device in a flat knitting machine, which uses one driving means as a driving source to move front and rear needle beds in mutually opposite directions through a driving force transmission means, thus reducing a racking time and improving knitting efficiency. SOLUTION: The racking device in the flat knitting machine, in which one driving means is disposed; nut members are disposed on the front and rear needle beds, respectively. The nut members are threadedly engaged with a sending screw for the front needle bed and a sending screw for the rear needle bed, respectively, is characterized in that the rotation of the sending nut enables to slide the front and rear needle beds in the right and left directions, respectively, through the driving force transmission means for transmitting the driving force of the driving means. Thereby, the front and rear needle beds are moved in the mutually relatively opposite directions, and the racking can be carried out in a half distance and in a half time in comparison with a conventional racking device using one needling bed.
