A method and apparatus for blind decodings to be performed when carrier aggregation is being used by establishing a first search space for a first carrier and a second search space for a second carrier, wherein the first search space and the second search space are transmitted on a single carrier, and determining a first downlink control information (DCI) format size for the first search space and a second DCI format size for the second search space, wherein the first DCI format size equals the second DCI format size, and transmitting a first control channel information in the second search space, wherein the first control channel is configured to allocate resources corresponding to the first carrier.
