In one embodiment, the present invention relates to an image encoding/decoding method and device. One embodiment of the present invention provides a method and device for image encoding which entail: encoding skip information showing whether a block to be subjected to image encoding is a skip block; either encoding split information for the block and skip movement information for the block, or encoding prediction information for the block comprising intra-prediction mode or movement information and split information for the block, depending on the skip information; and encoding residual signal information for the block, based on the prediction information and the conversion information, and provides a method and device for restoring the encoded signal. This embodiment of the present invention can improve image compression efficiency by being devised to allow efficient encoding of the encoding information which is used when encoding images, and allows the encoding of images through the selective use of diverse encoding formats and decoding formats.
