The invention relates to a system for motorising a wheel (2), said system including an engine block (4), a driving member (6) secured to the wheel (2) and a clutch device (7) connecting the output shaft (8) of the engine block (4) to the driving member (6). According to the invention, the engine block (4) includes an electric motor (11) and is supported by a non-suspended portion of a MacPherson strut (3) of an aircraft for the ground movements of the latter.
