A method, device and system for processing short messages is disclosed by the embodiments of the present invention, wherein the method for processing short messages includes the following steps: receiving a registration request message, which comprises first indication information, of a User Equipment (UE); registering to the Home Subscriber Service (HSS)/Home Location Register (HLR) according to the first indication information so as to enable the HSS/HLR to set the Voice over Long Term Evolution via Generic Access (VoLGA) Access Network Controller (VANC) to be the next hop router of the Short Message Service (SMS) of the UE.
