POLARIZING PLATE, LIQUID CRYSTAL PANEL AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY APPARATUS USING THE POLARIZING PLATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate which has sufficient brightness at a front surface, by which a liquid crystal display apparatus excellent in display quality can be obtained and further which contributes to reduction in the number of parts and reduction in thickness of the liquid crystal display apparatus and further to provide a liquid crystal panel and the liquid crystal display apparatus using the polarizing plate.

SOLUTION: The polarizing plate has a polarizing film and a sheet member which is laminated on the polarizing film and has a rugged surface. The rugged surface of the sheet member is formed by arranging a plurality of prism rows constituted of two prism faces in parallel to each other. At least one between two prism faces is formed of a non-singular plane constituted of two or more faces each of which is a plane or a convex curved face. In light emitted from a face facing the polarizing film in the sheet member after total reflection by the non-singular plane, a direction of a peak of emission light distribution is almost a normal direction of the face facing the polarizing film in the sheet member. Further the liquid crystal panel and the liquid crystal display apparatus using the polarizing plate are provided.
