<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize image density or character quality by eliminating effects due to differences in ink penetration characteristics based on differences in kinds of a recording medium, and to. <P>SOLUTION: A recording head discharges a plurality of kinds of processing liquids whose penetration speeds are different. A controller performs processing of acquiring the penetration characteristics of the recording medium and processing of changing ratio of discharge amount of the plurality of kinds of the processing liquids based on the penetration characteristics of the recording medium.
