PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing an amino acid-modified organopolysiloxane from a highly safe raw material in a high yield through a simple process. SOLUTION: There is provided an amino acid modified organopolysiloxane in which an amino acid derivative is bonded to at least one silicon atom of an organopolysiloxane segment constituting a main chain via an amide bond represented by formula (1) [wherein X and Y each represent a 1C-10C bivalent hydrocarbon group, m is an integer of 0 to 4, R<SP>a</SP>represents a hydrogen atom, a 1C-4C monovalent hydrocarbon group or one selected from groups represented by formula (2), and Z represents an organic group represented by formula (2) [wherein R<SP>b</SP>represents a hydrogen atom, a 1C-7C hydrocarbon group, an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal, R<SP>c</SP>s each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a hydroxy group or a 1C-10C monovalent hydrocarbon group which may have oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen]].
