PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a state determination device for an engine water temperature detection means, which can eliminate a potential false determination of the engine water temperature detection means while reducing the cost by determining whether a value of a water temperature sensor which is raised by operation of an engine is reduced to a temperature close to outside air temperature (vehicle ambient temperature) after the lapse of a fixed time from stopping of the engine. SOLUTION: A control means (2) determines that an engine water temperature detection means (18) is normal by a determination means (48) when a difference between a value of engine water temperature stored in a set time-elapsed state storage means (52) and a value of intake air temperature is less than a failure determination value.
