PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a jump search operation by, when selecting the same word as a jump object word from a jump source text display screen previously using a jump function, automatically selecting dictionary information which is the same as the previous one as jump destination. SOLUTION: An electronic dictionary 1 includes: a plurality of dictionary DBs 820; an input part 30 for designating a word in a displayed text as a jump object word, and for selecting any dictionary DB 820 as jump destination; a CPU 20 for reading and displaying explanation information of a keyword for the jump object word from the jump destination dictionary DB 820; and a jump book table 83 for, when the jump destination is selected by the input part 30, associating the jump object word and positional information of a jump source text and the dictionary name of the jump destination with one another and storing them as jump history information. When the text of the positional information of the jump history information is displayed, the word included as the jump object word in the jump history information is displayed to be identified in the text, and when the word is designated as the jump object word, the dictionary DB 820 associated with the word in the jump history information is selected as the jump destination.
