PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traveling device realizing stable slope stopping and slope starting, by surely preventing a vehicle from retreating when climbing on a slope. SOLUTION: A crawler robot (1) has a crawler traveling device (8) capable of switching travel by a high speed travel driving unit (16) and a high torque travel driving unit (18) by an inverse input cutoff clutch (32). When the inverse input cutoff clutch becomes a cutoff state when stopping on the slope (S1-S3), the crawler robot is stopped by operating a brake (26) (S4-S6), and the brake is released after confirming that the inverse input cutoff clutch becomes a connected state when starting (S7-S9).
