METHOD FOR PRODUCING OPTICAL FILM, OPTICAL FILM, POLARIZING PLATE, AND IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE

In order to more easily and highly productively provide an optical film equipped with a gradient-index hard coating layer, the disclosed method for producing an optical film is characterized by including: (i) a step for preparing a light-transmissive base material; (ii) a step for preparing a first cured resin composition that is for the hard coating layer, and that has a viscosity of 3-100 mPa·s, does not contain high-refractive-index microparticles, and contains a first binder component and a first solvent, and for preparing a second cured resin composition that is for the hard coating layer, and that has a viscosity of 10-100 mPa·s, contains high-refractive-index microparticles having an average particle size of 1-100 nm, and contains a second binder component and a second solvent; (iii) a step for simultaneously coating the first cured resin composition for the hard coating layer and the second cured resin composition for the hard coating layer adjacent to each other on one surface of the light-transmissive base material from the side of the light-transmissive base material, forming a coating film; and (iv) a step for performing light irradiation to cure the coating film obtained in step (iii), forming a gradient-index hard coating layer.
