Disclosed is a transmission system that divides a series of data streams into a plurality of unit data for transmission and that is equipped with a transmission device and a receiving device, wherein the transmission device and the receiving device are equipped with synchronization units that output mutually synchronized clock signals. The transmission device is further equipped with a frequency alteration unit that alters the frequency of a time-division multiplexing signal on the basis of the clock signal output from the synchronization unit of the transmission device, and a switching unit that switches the time-division multiplexing signal with the altered frequency into unit data that is transmitted to the receiving device. The receiving device is further equipped with a decoding unit that receives the unit data from the transmission device and generates the time-division multiplexing signal with the altered frequency, and a frequency restoration unit that restores the time-division multiplexing signal by returning the frequency of the time-division multiplexing signal with the altered frequency to normal on the basis of the clock signal output from the synchronization unit of the receiving device.
