<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feed cassette and an image forming apparatus that facilitate the post-installation and replacement of an ion generating unit without increasing space required for installation. <P>SOLUTION: The paper feed cassette 160 has a cassette body 161 and an ion generating unit 650. The cassette body 161 is freely attachable to or detachable from the body 3 of a copying machine 1. The ion generating unit 650 has a duct 651, ion generating device 652, and fan 653. The duct 651 is loaded in the cassette body 161. The duct 651 defines a passage along which air sucked from the inside of the cassette body 161 inserted in the body 3 of the machine is guided outside. The ion generating device 652 is disposed in the duct 651.
