PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily take a good picture by carrying out photographing with a lapse of a predetermined time after an imaging instruction is issued and the number of registered objects is detected. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus specifies the number of objects by analyzing image data of objects which is input through an imaging optical system, establishes the number of objects, and discriminates whether the established number of objects agree with the predetermined number of objects. The imaging apparatus performs photographing with a lapse at the predetermined time after it is discriminated that the established number of objects and the predetermined number of objects agree, and then records the obtained image data in a recording medium.
