PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique by which a manufacturing cost of a magnetic head is reduced by suppressing investment to a test device of the magnetic head equipped with a recording element and a reproducing element, and by which a magnetic recording device can be manufactured without lowering a yield thereof even when a magnetic head manufactured at a low cost is used. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing the magnetic head includes: classifying magnetic heads into one of a to-be-tested head class and a non-test-candidate head class before conducting a dynamic electromagnetic test (S300); conducting the dynamic electromagnetic test for the magnetic heads classified into the to-be-tested head class (S400); next, estimating characteristic values of the magnetic heads classified into the non-test-candidate head class by using characteristic values measured for the magnetic heads classified into the to-be-tested head class (S600); classifying the magnetic heads classified to the non-test-candidate head class into one of a to-be-tested head class, and a non-test head class based on the estimated characteristic values (S700); conducting a dynamic electromagnetic test for the magnetic heads determined to be the to-be-tested head class in S700 (S401). As a result, the magnetic heads classified into the non-test head class in S700 are shipped to an assembly process of the magnetic recording device without being subjected to the dynamic electromagnetic test.
