PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a tree structure pattern inducing redundant retrieval when an element is added to the inside of the tree structure pattern in a process to perform retrieval while extending the tree structure pattern appearing frequently among a plurality of pieces of tree structure information. SOLUTION: An information extraction device 10 holds a pattern of a tree structure included in common among a plurality of pieces of tree structure information; selects an extension position from which the pattern of the tree structure is extended by adding an element to a path selected from the pattern of the held tree structure based on a previously decided condition; and determines that a search for a pattern wherein a new element is added to the pattern extension position of the tree structure is not to be performed when a common pattern, wherein an element is added between an inspection target element and its subelement in the tree pattern, is detected from an inspection area decided based on the inspection target element and the extension position in the pattern of the tree structure.
