PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transmission apparatus and method for performing multimedia-based data transmission. SOLUTION: The data transmission apparatus includes an image capturing device as a peripheral device and a processing circuit which controls the operation of the data transmission apparatus. When the data transmission apparatus is used as a target device, at least one or more multi-dimensional bar code images including data are captured, and the processing circuit extracts the data included in the multi-dimensional bar code images for further uses. Especially, at least the one or more multi-dimensional bar code images represent a plurality of multi-dimensional bar code images.
