PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust surface temperature of a pressure member to appropriate temperature. SOLUTION: A fixing device includes: a contact/separation means 160 making the pressure member 58 contact with/separate from a heating member 51; a blower means 200 sending cooling air to the pressure member 58; and a control means 16 controlling operation of the blower means 200 and operation of the contact/separation means 160 so that the surface temperature of the pressure member 58 may be kept in a predetermined control range and may be equal to or below upper limit temperature set so as not to exceed allowable temperature of a component member. When the surface temperature of the pressure member 58 is higher than the control range, the control means 16 operates the blower means 200, and when the surface temperature of the pressure member 58 is lower than the control range, the pressure member 58 is made to contact with the heating member 51, and when the surface temperature of the pressure member 58 is higher than the upper limit temperature, the contact/separation means 160 makes the pressure member 58 separate from the heating member 51 and operates the blower means 200 to make the surface temperature of the pressure member 58 within the control range.
