Processes of making thermoplastic compositions comprising melt-mixing certain hyperbranched polymers with one or more thermoplastic polymers, such that the hyperbranched polymers are made by heating the presence of an acid esterification catalyst a monomer mixture comprising a hyperbranching monomer consisting of compounds having two COOH groups and one OH group, compounds having one COOH group and two OH groups, compounds having one COOH group and three OH groups, or compounds having three COOH groups and one OH group, wherein the acid esterification catalyst is neutralized before or during the melt-mixing to provide a quantity of remaining acid esterification catalyst that is less than 0.3 mmoles per kilogram of the one or more thermoplastic polyesters.
