<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal shutter capable of suppressing the generation of a flicker, a method for driving the liquid crystal shutter, and an image display system including the liquid crystal shutter. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal shutter includes: a first liquid crystal panel which has a pair of electrode substrates and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the pair of electrode substrates the state of which can be changed over from/to a transmissive state to/from a non-transmissive state and which has an OCB (optically compensated bend) mode for a left eye; a second liquid crystal panel which has a pair of electrode substrates and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the pair of electrode substrates the state of which can be changed over from/to the transmissive state to/from the non-transmissive state and which has the OCB mode for a right eye; and a drive part. The drive part applies a voltage to each of the first liquid crystal panel and the second liquid crystal panel to alternately change over the state of each of the first liquid crystal panel and the second liquid crystal panel from/to the transmissive state to/from the non-transmissive state and performs such polarity reversal drive that the polarity of the voltage to be applied between the pair of electrode substrates is reversed at least once within one period of the transmissive state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
