PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver that reduces stress given to a viewer. SOLUTION: The television receiver includes a display unit 12 displaying an image, a television video creation unit 18 which creates an image to be displayed in the display unit 12 based on a received television broadcast signal, an image data storage unit 20 which stores the image data to be displayed in the display unit 12, and a display image switch 22 which selects either of the video 19 created by the television video creation unit 18 and the image data 21 stored in the image data storage unit 20, and allows the display unit 12 to display the image. The display image switch 22 acts to display the image data 21 stored in the image data storage unit 20 for a predetermined time after the main power switch 24 is turned on, and to display the video 19 created by the television video creation unit 18 after the predetermined time elapses.
