PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a superconducting wire material capable of sufficiently reducing an alternating current loss, having an excellent superconducting characteristic, and forming a line-thinned oxide superconducting thin film in the length direction on a substrate. SOLUTION: A coating film of a fine line-shaped metallic organic compound solution is arranged in a plurality in the width direction along the length direction, by applying the metallic organic compound solution to a surface of the substrate for the superconducting wire material of arranging a coating film unformed part for avoiding the formation of a coating film of the metallic organic compound solution, by at least one or more in the width direction along the length direction of the substrate for the superconducting wire material, and afterwards, calcination heat treatment is performed for pyrolyzing and removing an organic component included in a metallic organic compound, and regular baking heat treatment is further performed for performing crystallization, and this superconducting wire material is manufactured.
