<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate different types of media from belts more effectively in an apparatus useful in printing. <P>SOLUTION: An apparatus useful in printing includes: a first member, a fixing belt 202 including a pressure roll 240, a fixing roll 208 and inner and outer surfaces; a first nip N<SB>1</SB>including a first inlet end IE and a first outlet end OE<SB>1</SB>; a second nip N2 having a length of less than about 8 mm between the first outlet end OE<SB>1</SB>and a second outlet end OE<SB>2</SB>; and a stripping device 360 including a curved stripping edge 362 in contact with the inner surface of the fixing belt 202, the stripping edge being defined by a radius of less than about 10 mm, the stripping edge being spaced from the first outlet end OE<SB>1</SB>of the first nip N<SB>1</SB>by a distance of less than about 10 mm, and the fixing belt 202 bending at a stripping angleαof about 20°to about 30°at the stripping edge 362.
