PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a vehicle improving both of a busy shift suppressing effect and a fuel consumption improvement effect in a well balanced manner. SOLUTION: The control device for a vehicle includes a shifting map, and a shifting commanding means for generating a shifting command on the basis of the shifting map. The shifting map is set with vehicle speed zones A-D plurally divided in a low vehicle speed side of a shifting line of each gear stage. After upshift (YES in ST1), when downshift is carried out within a certain time and when a vehicle speed zone having a vehicle speed in the upshift matches a vehicle speed zone having the present vehicle speed (YES in ST2), transition to a busy shift suppression mode is carried out. In the busy shift suppression mode, in proportion to lowness of the vehicle speed zone having the vehicle speed in transition to the mode, upshift is delayed (ST4). And in the busy shift suppression mode, when a generation time interval of downshift is longer than a certain time (NO in ST5), a busy shift mode is released. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
