PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing a harmful substance on an elevator shaft inner wall, which dispenses with a period required for measurement of aerial density, and allows sharing of an elevator during a halt of the work. SOLUTION: The method includes steps of: fixing a shielding film 6a to a part of the elevator shaft inner wall 1 to air-tightly isolate the harmful substance 2a; removing the harmful substance 2a isolated by the shielding film 6a; collecting air in a working space 7 from which the harmful substance 2a is removed for measurement of aerial powder dust density; fixing a new shielding film 6b on the elevator shaft inner wall 1 from which the harmful substance 2 is not removed while leaving the shielding film 6a; and removing, based on a result that the density in the air collected for measurement of aerial powder dust density is a reference value or less, the shielding film of the section from which the air is collected while repeating the four steps.
