PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a high quality image without generating a gradation tilt etc. by suppressing the power consumption of a common voltage generation circuit and a data driver. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device 1 includes: a plurality of scan lines 16; a plurality of signal lines 15; a pixel electrode 13; a switch element 12; a common electrode 14; a scan driver 30 for sequentially selecting the scan line 16; the data driver 20 for outputting an analog gradation signal to the signal line 15; a constant voltage generation circuit 53 for generating a constant voltage; a waveform signal generation circuit 52 for outputting a waveform signal; and a control circuit 70 for controlling that a digital gradation signal is sequentially input, and when it is determined that there is the input gradation signal for one row which is a predetermined threshold or smaller, a waveform signal generation circuit 52 is made to output a waveform signal to the common electrode 14, and when it is determined that there is no input gradation signal for one row which is predetermined threshold or smaller, a constant voltage generation circuit 53 is made to output the constant voltage to the common electrode 14.
