PURPOSE: A device and method for converting forwarding and reversing operation are provided to reduce the fatigue of a driver by performing switching operation through the lever manipulation of a driver. CONSTITUTION: A device for converting forwarding and reversing operation comprises an electric proportion pressure reducing valve(106), EPPR valve for brake(108), a direction lever(110), a forward and backward direction converting EPPR valve(120), and a controller(100). The direction lever operates forward and backward direction conversion. If the forward and backward movement command is delivered from the direction lever, a shift point information table is read. The controller detects the accordance between a preset shift point and the shift point of the current vehicle speed.
