PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display apparatus capable of preventing deterioration in the optical transmittance resulting from the use of an insulating layer, and to provide a method of manufacturing the display apparatus. SOLUTION: The display apparatus includes a first insulating layer 116 disposed above a first substrate 110; a lower electrode 118b disposed on the first insulating layer 116; a dielectric layer 120a formed to surround the top and side surfaces of the lower electrode 118b; and an upper electrode 122a disposed on the dielectric layer 120a. The first insulating layer 116 may have etching selectivity, with respect to the dielectric layer 120a.
