PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve convenience of a photographer who photographs an object using an image data generating apparatus. SOLUTION: A digital still camera determines a candidate photographing condition based on information of the object determined as a main object candidate for every main object candidate, wherein the candidate photographing condition is one photographing condition suitable for each main object candidate. When the main object candidate is a person as the main object candidate A, the focal length, aperture value, and shutter speed for the object A are determined to be "50 mm", "F2.8", and "1/250", respectively (Fig.8(a)). When photographing using the photographing condition determined in such a way, since a focus matches the object A, and the aperture value and shutter speed are set so that exposure may match the object A, a simulation image displays the contour of the object A clearly and the exposure matches the brightness of the object A (Fig.8(b)).
