PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder that displays a residual amount closer to a residual amount predicted by a user even during simultaneous recording. SOLUTION: The recorder includes: a signal processing part for converting DR streams to AVC streams; an HDD for recording the AVC streams and simultaneously recording the DR streams when receiving an instruction to record the AVC streams and deleting the DR streams recorded simultaneously with the AVC streams when the recording of the AVC streams is completed; a CPU for calculating the size of a non-recorded where no data is recorded in the recording area of the HDD; and an OSD superimposing part for reporting the calculated size of the non-recorded area to a user. When the HDD is simultaneously recording the DR streams and the AVC streams, the CPU assumes the area where no data is recorded and the area where the DR streams are recorded in the recording area of the HDD as the non-recorded area, and calculates the size of the non-recorded area.
