PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device and to adjust a focal length. SOLUTION: The imaging device includes a plurality of lens groups 8 to 12, an imaging section 19 that captures a subject imaged through these lens groups 8 to 12 as video information, a lens driving section 24 that drives lenses of the lens groups 8 to 12 to make the focal length to the subject variable, a focal length detecting section 21 that detects the focal length to the subject from the video information captured by the imaging section 19, a lens position controlling section 27 that controls the lens driving section 24 by focal length information obtained by the focal length detecting section 21 and adjusts the focal length to the subject, and an impact detecting section 31 that detects an impact made on the imaging section 19, and, when the impact detecting section 31 detects an impact having a predetermined level or greater, the lens position controlling section 27 performs control to initialize the lens driving section 24.
