PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method of manufacturing a helical gear by which a helical gear having the large angle of twist is manufactured by cold plastic deformation and the helical gear thus manufactured. SOLUTION: The method includes: a lubrication stage for forming a lubricating coating-film 11 on the outer surface of a raw material 10; a cutting stage where the base stock 20 of a gear is formed by cutting the raw material 10; a forging stage where a spur gear 30 having a through hole 31 in its center is formed from the base stock 20 of the gear by cold forging with a forging die on which the shape of the spur gear is transferred; and an extrusion stage where the helical gear 40 having the through hole in its center is formed from the spur gear 30 by torsional shear deformation with the extruding die on which the shape of the helical gear having a predetermined angle of twist is transferred.
