PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scope which is excellent in operability, has a simple structure and is capable of securing safety further, and an endoscope apparatus. SOLUTION: The scope of the endoscope apparatus includes an insertion part 20. Around the distal end face 20T of the insertion part 20, a light source 24 for emitting illumination light is provided. The light source 24 is movable along the circumference of the distal end face 20T as indicated by an arrow A. On the basis of an object image generated by a CCD 22, a low luminance are in an area endoscopically observable by the scope is detected.
