PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and surely perform optical dot omission inspection in a printing apparatus. SOLUTION: In the dot omission inspecting method in the printing apparatus 1a which forms an image constituted by dots of a photo-curable ink, a normal printing process and an inspection printing process are selectively executed. The normal printing process includes a liquid droplet ejection step of hitting a liquid droplet D1a of the photo-curable ink on a medium S, a temporary curing step of temporarily curing the liquid droplet hit on the medium by illuminating with the light from a first light source (41a and 41b) and of suppressing flow of the liquid droplet, and a practical curing step of fixing the liquid droplet to the medium by illuminating the temporarily cured liquid droplet D1b with the light from a second light source 42. The inspection printing process executes the practical curing step after making the liquid droplet of the photo-curable ink hit on the medium by the liquid droplet ejection step flow on the medium without executing the temporary curing step, and expanding a surface area.
