PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type color image display device which displays a color image with high luminance. SOLUTION: The reflection type color image display device 1 includes an image display means 20 which modulates luminance of incident light, and in which pixel display elements 21 for emitting a color component corresponding to a selection color selected from three primary colors or white having higher luminance than that in a standard system are arranged in a matrix form. The reflection type color image display device 1 performs color conversion of first color image data based on the standard system, which is input by the image input means 11 of an image processing means 10, to second color image data of a display system based on three primary colors of the image display element 21 by a color conversion means 12. Then, the second color image data is divided into small blocks by a block dividing means 13, and a display color and luminance selected from high luminance three primary colors or white, are distributed to each pixel in the block by a color distributing means 14 so that chromaticity can be reproduced by a block unit.
