METHOD OF INSPECTING MAGNETIC HEAD ELEMENT, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING MAGNETIC HEAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate characteristics while proper mechanical stress is applied to a magnetoresistance effect element of a magnetic head. SOLUTION: A compressive stress and a tensile stress are applied to the element in a machined bar state during a head producing process, and changes in electromagnetic change characteristics before and after the application are measured so that resistance to the mechanical stress change is evaluated. When the characteristic change satisfies a predetermined criterion, the element is determined as a non-defective product, and non-defective sliders are acquired after cutting the machined bar.
