PURPOSE: A method for controlling an electrical product is provided to determine whether a communication modem performs a communication function with other components of electric product or power network. CONSTITUTION: If a response signal of a communication modem does not exist, a control unit compares a checking signal transmission number and a predetermined reference number(S404,S405). If the checking signal transmission number exceeds the reference number, the control unit determines a communication disable status of the communication modem(S407). The control unit informs the communication disable status of the communication modem to a user(S408).
