PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to detect easily faults of a plurality of parts of an ion generating apparatus. SOLUTION: The ion generating apparatus serving as a static charge eliminating apparatus includes: two ion generating elements 11, 12; a power supply board 5 which is connected to two ion generating elements 11, 12 through a plurality of signal wires; and a control board 4 which is connected to the power supply board 5 through a plurality of signal wires. The control board 4 includes: a discharge current detection portion 87 which detects a discharge current signal; a drive voltage detection portion 88 which detects a voltage control signal; a control voltage detection portion 86 which detects a voltage control signal; and a fault identification portion 89. The fault identification portion 89 detects the fault part of the static charge eliminating apparatus from the signal statuses of any two out of three signal values detected by the discharge current detection portion 87, the drive voltage detection portion 88, and the control voltage detection portion 86.
