PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that, when image data before and after copying are similar, the same original is printed to be duplicated by mistake even when determining whether the image data agree with each other by using a discrimination means. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a scanner 101 functioning as an image data obtaining part for obtaining the image data; an HDD 107 storing the previous image data obtained by the scanner 101; a light-and-dark similarity determination part 108 determining similarity between current image data obtained by the scanner 101 and the previous image data stored by the HDD 107; and a light-and-dark change similarity determination part 109 determining, when the light-and-dark similarity determination part 108 determines that the image data are similar, about it by using a determination means different from the means for determining similarity between the image data obtained by the scanner 101 and the image data stored by the HDD 107.
