PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding device of simple structure having a plurality of functions relative to various objects, and to provide a fabric processing robot with the same. SOLUTION: This holding device 200 includes: a fixed holding member 240; a movable holding member 261; a sliding device 220; a holding body part 210; and a motor 270. In the holding device 200, the movable holding member 261 is straightly moved by the sliding device 220 to the fixed holding member 240 fixed to the holding body part 210, and the movable holding member 261 is turned by the motor 270 to make the tip of the fixed holding member 240 and a tip movable member 262 of the movable holding member 261 approach each other so as to hold a fabric (a material to be washed) as an object.
