Disclosed are a mold molding device and a mold molding method whereby it is possible to prevent sand sticking to the inner wall of a sand hopper and simplify the structure of the device. After using a sand filling means to fill molding sand into a molding space formed by a molding frame, an overlay frame, and a pattern plate which is mounted on a pattern carrier, the molding sand which has been filled into the molding space is squeezed using a squeezing means and the mold is formed. The sand filling means is equipped with: a sand hopper which is disposed above the molding frame and the overlay frame, and which stores the molding sand; an open-close louver gate which is disposed inside the sand hopper; a sand supply port open-close means which is disposed in the upper section of the sand hopper, and which opens and closes a sand supply port for suppling the molding sand to the interior of the sand hopper; and an air jet chamber which is mounted on the inner surface of the sand hopper.
