SELECTIVE CATALYTIC REDUCTION OF NITROGEN OXIDES IN EXHAUST GAS FROM DIESEL ENGINES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst and a process for selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides in a diesel engine exhaust gas with ammonia or a compound decomposable to ammonia.

SOLUTION: The exhaust gas to be cleaned is passed through the catalyst comprising zeolite or a zeolite analogue containing 1-10 mass% copper using total mass of zeolite or the zeolite analogue as a reference and a cerium-zirconium mixed oxide and/or cerium oxide with ammonia and a compound decomposable to ammonia. The zeolite or the zeolite analogue to be used is selected from chavazite, SAPO-34, ALPO-34 and zeolite-β.
