PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner which includes a multibeam light source and a plastic molded scanning lens and performs highly precise optical scanning. SOLUTION: The optical scanner includes: a light source including a plurality of light emitting parts; a pre-deflector optical system; a polygon mirror 13; a monitoring light receiver 23; a plastic molded scanning lens 11; and a folding mirror MR or the like. A portion of a luminous flux deflected with the polygon mirror 13 but not used for scanning of a photoreceptor drum is made incident on the monitoring light receiver 23 as light quantity monitoring luminous flux without passing through the folding mirror MR.
