PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for stopping the development of red rust in an existing water supply pipe of a multi-unit apartment building or the like and further removing red rust which has already been adhered thereto without stopping water supply, the technique satisfying conditions such as (a) clear scientific grounds, (b) safety, (c) no modification of a water supply circuit, (d) no addition of new power, and (e) easy maintenance and management. SOLUTION: The method includes intermittently or continuously injecting, to a circuit forming a water supply conduit, a filtrate free from microbial contamination, the filtrate being prepared by filtering an aqueous solution having a reductive food additive dissolved therein by use of a virus removing membrane. An injection device includes: (a) a tank section which aseptically stores the aqueous solution having the reductive food additive dissolved therein; (b) a filtrate preparation circuit continued to the tank section, the preparation circuit having a virus removing membrane module and a filtering control unit incorporated thereto; and (c) a sealed container which stores (a) and (b), the container being a closed space to microorganisms but an open space to gas molecules.
