PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly-efficient AC generator which hardly causes no-load loss. SOLUTION: The AC generator includes: a permanent magnet which is incorporated rotatably and has a magnetization direction perpendicular to a rotation shaft of the permanent magnet; and core-less windings wound a plurality of times surrounding the permanent magnet and along planes approximately parallel to a plane including the rotation shaft in regions from external positions adjacent to the outer diameter face of the permanent magnet to positions separating from the outer diameter face by 1/4 to 1/2 of the permanent magnet diameter in radial directions, within dihedral angles each of less than 75 degrees where each set of the two planes includes the rotation shaft.
