The method involves drawing of fuel into a working chamber (4) of an internal combustion engine, where the fuel is compressed by the movement of a piston (3). Liquid oxygen is sprayed into the compressed fuel in the working chamber through a spraying nozzle (9). The fuel is atomized with a gas to form an aerosol. Hydrocarbon and moderate carbon dioxide gas is used as the fuel. An independent claim is also included for an internal combustion engine.
