WIDE-BAND MICROSTRIP PATCH ANTENNA WITH DEFECTED GROUND PLANE

PURPOSE: A broadband microstrip patch antenna using a defective ground plate is provided to prevent the increase of the volume or weight of an antenna by improving the bandwidth property of the antenna without an additional device. CONSTITUTION: A first dielectric substrate faces a second dielectric substrate(12). A ground plate(31) is formed on the lower side of the second dielectric substrate. A ground plate has a defective ground structure(32) of a square pattern to extend a bandwidth. An air layer(21) is formed between the first and second dielectric substrate to reduce the weight of the antenna.
