The machine has a longitudinal seams producing device (1), an extracting unit (2) for packaging material, and a shaping shoulder (2.2) for wrapping the packaging material around a format tube (3). A longitudinal sealing device (4) is designed as an ultrasonic-longitudinal sealing device. The sealing device is provided with an anvil (4.1) and a sonotrode (4.2) to seal longitudinal edges of the packaging material with each other to form an overlapping seal seam. The anvil is placed in a wall of the format tube up to height of the shoulder.
